At the JT Makeup Studios we can offer training courses with Industry Specialists who are also established Educators. We believe the secret to success is having the right mindset, skills and confidence. Our selection of courses are offered at a beginner level through to advanced top up courses for established makeup artists. To offer more support to Students, Trainees, Makeup Lecturers and Freelance Makeup Artists we have introduced the JT Makeup Creative Hub Membership plus Industry Masterclass Days which are offered twice a year. 

Our expert knowledge, guidance, techniques and products are up to date in an ever changing industry.

This is an artistic course structured to offer technical skills incorporating a series of hands on exercises to build up new techniques. Additionally knowledge of costings, time allocations for filming or commercial events plus planning for large scale designs are built into the course.

A wide range of products are available to use and test during the course and all students will receive a Body Painting work book. A set of Body Painting Brushes are available to purchase with a student discount.

This is a Specialist Period Hair Course with Daniel Phillips. This is designed to introduce you to new formations, research and to explore a wide variety of technique that Daniel uses in period film productions. For the first 3 sessions there will be demonstrations, taught delivery & attendee practice sessions. The practice sessions will be on block heads for days 1-3 & these will be intensive working sessions from 9am - 6pm.

On Day 4 attendees will recreate hair & makeup selecting an era of their choice on a model. Please note as this is a unique course there are only 6 places for this course.

This course is generated for trainee makeup artists starting out in all areas of the makeup industry or established artists seeking direction for new ventures.

Young Creatives

This is a one day course aimed at 14 - 17 year olds who have a keen interest and may wish to study further for a career in makeup.  The course runs from 1pm - 4pm per session.

These one day courses offer an introduction to makeup techniques & will focus on the work of the Makeup Artist working in the film, fashion & theatre industries. The sessions include:

This is a 3 day Introductory Course aimed at new entrants & trainee makeup artists in the film & television industries. This course is taught by Joy Djadi an experienced senior lecturer & consultant in all areas of Hairdressing including African & Caribbean Hair.

Day 1:

Hair Types - Textured hair & correct use of tools

The use of heated products & protective technique

The science of curly to curly to afro hair

Blow drying techniques

Days 2 & 3

Plaiting & cane rows

Two stranded twists

Attaching weft to cane rows

Adding & styling extensions

There is an equipment list for this course that you will need to purchase prior to the course.

A set of Afro hair products will be included in the course price for you to take away with you afterwards.

Class sizes will be small & the delivery of this introductory course will be on block heads.

Establish foundation skills in hair and makeup with a variety of technique and learning systems to develop a style of creativity while defining the areas of the makeup industry you wish to work in.

This course is aimed at a beginner level and sessions comprise of demonstrations, group work, seminars, discussion and technical skills building.

This is an intensive course offering fundamental training in hair and makeup with the skills required for the beauty, bridal and fashion industries. You will be given daily feedback and goal setting targets each week to encourage you to work on specific areas. Open your mind to new techniques and approaches to hair and makeup styling. There is a wide variety of makeup, hair products and equipment to experiment with. You will work towards two assessments on the course with the final day comprising of a photographic shoot. 

Students will receive their own Hair and Makeup Kit as a part of the course plus a training book and a Makeup Directory.

This an intensive course aimed at graduates who have completed full training on a course in hair and makeup wishing to enter into the Film and Television Makeup Industries. This course offers a unique opportunity to recap skills, accuracy and build speed while working to set time limits within the scenario of a Crowd Room simulation. Through a variety of set briefs from a selection of productions the Boot Camp team will create a range of characters on a daily basis. This will incorporate period hair, period makeup, bald caps, postiche work, laying on hair plus a test day to establish creative characters.


Day 1: Character analysis, script breakdown, continuity records, call sheet instructions, trainee expectations, practical session based on Light Entertainment Hair and Makeup


Day 2: Period Hair and Makeup incorporating 1920's Male and female


Day 3: Period Hair and Makeup with casualty effects working to set designs, call sheet times and recreating a series of designs based on the 1940's era.


Day 4: Fittings for Creative Hair and Makeup designs, working as a team to recreate a series of fantasy characters.


Day 5: Business of Makeup Seminar & prep day for photographic shoot


Day 6: Photographic Shoot Day and feedback session
